2012 MSA president Janet Woodward presents Gina Sosinsky with the Masur award at the 2012 M&M meeting.

 

The Microscopy Society of America awards Gina Sosinsky the 2012 Morton D. Masur Distinguished Service Award.

At the 2012 Microscopy & Microanalysis meeting held in Phoenix this July, Gina Sosinsky, Assistant Director of NCMIR and a UCSD Professor-In-Residence in Neurosciences was awarded the Morton D. Maser Ward for Distinguished Service to the Microscopy Society of America. This major society award recognizes outstanding volunteer service to the Society. The award is named for Mort Maser, from the Marine Biology Laboratory at Woods Hole, Massachusetts, who for many years served MSA in several capacities with great dedication. This award is made to honor an MSA member who has provided significant volunteer service to the Society over a period of years. Gina joined MSA in 1979 as a beginning graduate student. She was an MSA Presidential Scholar. Gina has been actively involved in the society organizing several symposia, serving several times as a speaker and on program committees and was the organizer of the MSA biological tutorials for 2000-2003. Gina served on the awards committee (2008-2010) and is currently a Director on MSA council (2010-2012).
